Tales From the BRABAR Studio: Tweens and Teens with 28 Band and D+ Cups

What happens when your tween daughter or teenage daughter has a 28D, 28DD, or 28DDD Bra Size?  Most people don’t even know that Band Size 28 exists as most intimate places started at 32.

But for a tween girl just starting, or a petite teenager or young adult, it may be the case that they have a petite ribcage and a full bust.  So the bra they need caters to a smaller band but still has enough room for a bust.  Simple training bras or bras with bands that are too big and not enough cup size are no good.

Comfort is the key to happiness.  You want your tween or teen to feel comfortable in their own body as it changes through life.  Where can you get teenage bralettes or tween bras for the petite and full-busted girl that include:  everyday bras, sports bras and teenage sports bralettes, bra tops, halter bras, racerback bralettes, cotton bralettes, crop tops, strapless bras and solutions, bandeau bras, cami bras and cami bralettes, lace bralettes, convertible bras and more?  Well BRABAR of course!

The best place to start is finding the Bra Size.

This is the key.

The way.

The path.

To the perfect fitting teenage bra or tween bra.

Bra Sizes seem mysterious and confusing to even a mature woman, let alone a teenager or tween on their bra journey.

I am here to tell you that is so very simple to find your bra size yourself, especially if you can’t find a proper fit expert.  So you become your own fit expert at home!

The tools you’ll need are:

Soft measuring tape (the kind used in sewing)

Pen and paper to write down your measurements

And that’s it!

With your tools at the ready, you are ready to begin finding the Bra Size using BRABAR’s EZ-Fit Method and our handy Fitguide and Bra Size Calculator.

Step 1: The Underbust Measurement and the Band Size

Take your measuring tape and wrap it around your ribcage.  Where you want it is where the band of your bra lands.  (Note:  Wear at least a sleeping bra or seamless, padless bralette, it will help if gravity is against you).  Have the measuring tape snug around your ribcage for the most accurate measurement.  I assure you even if you think it’s wrong, it’s probably right.  Note down your ribcage measurement.

Ex.
Ribcage measurement 27-inches

Since Band Sizes are even whole numbers (28, 30, 32, 34, 36, 38, 40), you need to round up to even whole numbers when your ribcage doesn’t measure it.

Ex.

Ribcage measurement 27-inches

Band Size 28

Step 2: The Overbust Measurement

Your Overbust Measurement is not your Cup Size.  It is just the other measurement needed to find your Cup Size.  By measuring the fullest part of your breasts, you get your overbust measurement.  The overbust measurement cannot measured too tight nor too loose but with enough slack.  You round to the nearest whole number to get your Overbust Measurement.

Ex.

Overbust measurement 31.5-inches

Overbust rounded up to 32-inches

Step 3: Find Your Cup Size With the Difference of your Overbust Measurement and Band Size

Let’s talk Cup Sizes.  Your Cup Size is the Difference between your Overbust Measurement and Band Size.  That’s it.  That’s all you need to know how to calculate your cup size.  If you change your Band Size to be bigger then your cup size goes down, but you should always keep in mind that the perfect fitting bra is snug around the rib cage and your cup size has no spilling.

Each inch = One Cup Size

1 inch = A-Cup

2 inch = B-Cup

3 inch = C-Cup

4 inch = D-Cup

5 inch = DD-Cup or E-Cup

6 inch = DDD-Cup or F-Cup

7 inch = DDDD-Cup or G-Cup

And so on.

Ex.

Using the above examples

Band Size 28

Overbust Measurement 32

The difference is 4 inches

So the Cup Size is D-Cup.

Therefore, your Band Size Plus Your Cup Size is Your Bra Size.

Ex.

Band Size 28

Cup Size D-Cup

Bra Size 28D

Now you have the path to your bra size or the bra size of your tween or teenager.
