BRABAR offers many wonderful options for bras and underwear for young adults, teenagers, and tweens. Here are my top choices for everyday bras for teens and preteens with bands 32-40, A-DDD/F.
Top Everyday Picks for Bands 32-40

- Soft V Laceback Bralette - a super cute, comfortable laceback bralette with removable pads that can be reversed to wear the lace in front - two bras in one. Comes in nine colors.
- Everyday Bra - a classic, all-around bra with removable pads, a seamless design, adjustable straps, and a three-hook back closure. A perfect transition bra for teens and tweens. Comes in Black, Mushroom, and Natural Gray.

- Everyday Scoop Bra - a comfortable, easy pull-over scoop neck bra with thick straps and removable pads. Comes in Black and Mushroom, with a 40 band option.
- Everyday J-Hook Bra - a convertible everyday bra that turns into a racerback with the J-hook, with removable pads. Comes in Mushroom and Black, with a 40 band option.
- Soft Cami Bra Top - a fan-favorite, seamless, unlined double-layer wire-free bra top and a great starter bra for teens and tweens. Comes in eleven colors.
- Soft Crop Multiway Convertible Bra Top - ultra-versatile and unlined, with endless styling options: backless halter, criss-cross, or adjustable cami straps. Comes in Black, Ash, and White.
- Soft V Crop Bralette - super soft, easy to pull over the head or step into, with thicker straps that double as sports-bra support. Keeps you cool in summer and warm in winter. Size down for firmer support or up for more comfort - our most comfortable bra. Can accommodate a 40 band even though official sizing tops out at 36-38.
A Real Fitting
An example of why these bras are great everyday choices for preteens and teens with 32-40 bands: a preteen girl came in for her first bra fitting at the BRABAR Studio. Her mother had brought her in, and she was very shy. I started by measuring her.
She measured 36 inches in her rib cage, so her band size was 36 - no rounding needed. Her overbust measurement was 42 inches. Subtracting the 36 band from the 42 overbust gives a 4-inch difference - a D cup. Her bra size was 36D.
From the options I gave, she tried on many. Ultimately, she picked the Soft Day Bra, Everyday Bra, and Soft V Laceback Bralette. She liked the Soft Day Bra for its comfortable support, thicker straps and band, and back closure. She liked the Everyday Bra for the back closure and color options. She liked the Soft V Laceback for its pretty lace and soft fabric.
So when in doubt, go with these options.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which BRABAR bras run larger than their labeled band size?
The Everyday Scoop Bra, Everyday J-Hook Bra, and Soft V Crop Bralette can all accommodate a 40 band, even though official sizing on some of these tops out at 36-38, thanks to their stretch.
What's the best first bra for a shy preteen at her first fitting?
Starting with something familiar in structure, like the Everyday Bra or Soft Day Bra, tends to feel less overwhelming than an unfamiliar style, while still giving her real support.
Should a 36D wear a padded or unpadded bra?
Either can work well - it comes down to personal preference and the look she wants. A back-closure everyday bra with removable pads, like several BRABAR styles, lets her choose either way in the same bra.
How to Measure
- Measure Underbust: Wrap a soft measuring tape right below your breasts. Round to the nearest even whole number for your band size.
- Measure Overbust: Wrap the tape over the fullest part of your breasts. Round to the nearest whole number for your bust size.
- Calculate Cup Size: Subtract your band size from your bust size. Each inch of difference is one cup size, from A up through DDD/F.
