It is the difference between the Band Size and the Overbust Measurement that determines your Cup Size. If your Band Size changes, so does the difference between the Band Size and the Overbust measurement, and therefore your Cup Size changes.

The support in your bra should come from your band, not your straps. A bra should fit like a good-fitting strapless bra. If your band is too big, the bra band will move and strain your back.
