For all the 28AA & 28A Girlies!
What to do when you have a small band and a petite bust? In most cases struggle to find perfect-fitting bras and bralettes. For all the girls, tweens, teens, and adults who are 28AA Bra Size and 28A Bra Size, this is a deep look into these two sizes, how to find your accurate bra size by measuring using your band size and overbust measurement, and what BRABAR bras work best for a 28AA Bra Size or 28A Bra Size girl!
Anyone can be a 28AA Bra Size or 28A Bra Size no matter the age they are.
However, finding 28AA Bra Size or 28A Bra Size teenage bras, teenage bralettes, tween bras, and tween bralettes is a challenge since it is leaning more towards a unique size not found in typical bra stores.
In addition, finding 28AA Bra Size or 28A Bra Size in everyday bras, sports bras and teenage sports bralettes, bra tops, halter bras, racerback bralettes, cotton bralettes, crop tops, strapless bras, bandeau bras, cami bras and cami bralettes, lace bralettes, and convertible bras is also a struggle for women of all ages as well.
At BRABAR we have a method for finding the bra that works best for you.
And it all starts with fitting for your Bra Size.
How to Measure Your Bra Size
Step 1: Measure Your Underbust/Ribcage and Determine Your Band Size
To find your Band Size, it is very simple. You should measure your ribcage or underbust. I usually say it is where the band of your bra typically falls. The soft measuring tape should be parallel to the floor and pulled snugly around your ribcage but not tight.
Whatever you measure, you round to the nearest EVEN WHOLE number. So if you measure 27 inches, you have 28 Band, if you measure 29 inches, you have a 30 Band, if you measure 31 inches, you have a 32 Band, or if you measure 33 inches, you have a 34 Band, and so on.
Your bra band should fit snugly as a hug around your ribcage, so the measurement should be taken as closely fitted as possible without suffocating!
Why is the Band Size so important? Because your bra should support you from your Band, not your shoulders. Most bras have the fatal flaw of hanging on your shoulders, which leads to back issues, straps digging into your shoulders, and the straps stretching out faster. If your regular bra fits you like a good strapless bra as strapless bras support you from your band, then you need to have the correct Band Size.
If you get measured another way, like the outdated Plus Four method, which may have been fine for the old style of bras fifty years ago, but not for modern 21st-century bras, you may have your wrong Band Size. Eight out of ten women are wearing the wrong size bra. I cannot tell you how many times I had women bring in their daughters to be measured, only for the moms, aunts, grandmas, and other adult women to ask to be measured because they either didn’t know or they were sure they were wearing the wrong size!
Step 2: Measure Your Overbust
Once you have your Band Size, you need the second measurement. The second measurement is your Overbust measurement. The Overbust measurement is measured around the fullest part of your breast over your nipples. I would recommend wearing an unlined wireless bralette such as the Soft V Crop Bra to measure your breasts.
The measuring tape should be parallel to the floor like with the previous measurement. You do not need to hold the measuring tape snugly here. You want a slight amount of slack, but absolutely not too much that the measuring tape is sliding all over the place. You round to the nearest WHOLE number for your Overbust measurement.
Step 3: Determine Your Cup Size
YOUR OVERBUST MEASUREMENT - YOUR BAND SIZE = YOUR CUP SIZE
And that’s it. All you have to do is take your Band Size from your Overbust measurement to determine your cup size.
Less Than a one-inch difference is an AA-Cup.
A one-inch (1) difference is an A-Cup.
A two-inch (2) difference is a B-Cup.
A three-inch (3) difference is a C-Cup.
A four-inch (4) difference is a D-Cup.
A five-inch (5) difference is a DD-Cup or an E-Cup. A DD-Cup and an E-Cup are the same, just a different way of saying it.
A six-inch (6) difference is a DDD-Cup or a F-Cup. A DDD-Cup and an F-Cup are the same.
A seven-inch (7) difference is a DDDD-Cup or a G-Cup. A DDDD-Cup and a G-Cup are the same.
A common misconception is that you shop by your Cup Size, but as explained about why your Band Size is so important above, your Cup is determined always by the difference between your Band Size and Overbust Measurement. If your band size were to change, your cup size would be vastly different.
For example, everyone’s AA-Cup or A-Cup looks different because the constant is less than a one-inch difference or the one-inch difference between your two measurements. Someone who is a 28AA or 28A is going to look different than a 38AA or a 38A! If someone was a 38AA, their measurements would be 38 Band and 38.5 Overbust. Compared to a 28AA, their measurements would be a 28 Band and a 28.5 Overbust. This way, you can see the stark contrast and why it’s always vital to ask for a bra with both your Band Size and Cup Size!
