The truth of the matter is that teens and girls with band size 28 and band size 30 have a difficult time finding properly fitting bras. Two Real Fittings

The first teenager came in with her mother. She measured a 28-inch rib cage, so a 28 band. Her overbust measurement was 32 inches. Subtracting the 28 band from the 32 overbust gives a 4-inch difference - a D cup. She was a 28D.

The second teenager also came in with her mother. She measured a 29-inch rib cage, which rounds up to a 30 band. Her overbust measurement was 34 inches. Subtracting the 30 band from the 34 overbust gives a 4-inch difference - also a D cup. She was a 30D.

It's worth noting that both girls had D cups, but their proportions were different because their band sizes were different.
