Tales From the BRABAR Studio: How to Find Starter Bras for Tween Girls!

Tweens are at the most awkward stage of their lives. Stuck between girlhood and teenage years, tweens need support and help finding the best starter bras for them and their needs, no matter how fast or slow they develop breasts. Every girl is unique in their way so they must be comfortable in themselves. They are so much more than their bodies. And having a good, comfortable, fashionable, and supporter bra can make a difference whether anyone realizes it or not.

Here I will break bra sizing down with two examples from the BRABAR Studio and how all you need is the Band Size, the Overbust Measurement, and how to subtract them to get your Cup Size.

Example 1 tween needed to be measured for her very first bra.

The first step was to measure her underbust to get her band size. The underbust is also known as the rib cage measurement which you should take snugly like a hug to ensure a secure fit around your band. The tween girl measured 28 inches in her underbust. Now if it was an odd number, then you would round up, but since it was not, she has a 28 Band Size.

The next step was the overbust measurement which you take over the fullest part of the breast over the nipples. You keep the measuring tape parallel to the floor to ensure proper sizing. She measured 29 inches in her overbust.

To get the cup size, you subtract the 28 Band Size and the 29-inch overbust to get a difference of 1 inch. For cup sizes, each inch is a cup size. So, the tween girl’s cup size was an A-cup. Therefore, she has a 28A Bra Size.

Example 2 tween needed to be measured for the first time despite wearing bras already from another place. The mom wanted me to double-check. So like with Example 1, you measure for the Band Size. The tween measured 29 inches and thus we need to round it up. Her 30 Band Size was found! The overbust measurement was 36 inches. To get her cup size, we subtract the 30 Band Size from the 36-inch overbust to get a difference of 6 inches. And since each inch is a cup size, her Cup Size is a DDD-Cup or an E-Cup. Thus, she has a 30DDD or a 30F.
