BRABAR movement goes beyond mere fitting—it challenges norms around body image and self-confidence.
The BRABAR movement is dedicated to change and education on fit, addressing the crucial issue of bra confidence and comfort. Shockingly, 8 out of 10 young women wear the wrong bra size - which is why BRABAR built its Bra Size Calculator as part of a comprehensive Fit Guide, empowering women to find their perfect fit from home.
Ill-fitting bras can cause discomfort and dent confidence. BRABAR advocates for comfort as the cornerstone of confidence - every woman deserves to feel secure and comfortable every day.
Why Standardized Sizing Matters
In the US, conflicting measuring methods complicate finding the right fit: the armpit method used by Victoria's Secret, the special measuring tapes used at Aerie, and the practice of adding four inches to the band size used by brands like SKIMS. BRABAR advocates instead for the rib cage method, which ensures a more accurate, supportive fit.
Adding four inches to the band size is unnecessary and leads to improper sizing - for example, someone with a 28-inch underbust and 33-inch overbust is incorrectly sized as a 32A using the plus-4 method, instead of the accurate 28DD. Measuring at the armpit instead of the rib cage has a similar distorting effect, sizing the band up and the cup down.
Measuring Your Band Size
Place a measuring tape around your ribcage, directly under your bust. Round this measurement to the nearest even number to get your band size.
Measuring Your Bust Size
Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your bust.
Determining Your Cup Size
Subtract your band size from your bust size to find your cup size:
- 1 inch = A cup
- 2 inches = B cup
- 3 inches = C cup
- 4 inches = D cup
- 5 inches = DD cup
- 6 inches = DDD/F cup
- 7 inches = G cup
For example, if your band size is 34 inches and your bust size is 38 inches, your cup size would be 38 - 34 = 4 inches, making you a D cup.
Comprehensive Size Ranges
BRABAR offers bras in band sizes 28 through 38 and cup sizes A through G, ensuring inclusivity and comfort across body types.
